Meghan Khang Wins 2023 CPKC Women's Open
For the first time in tournament history, Shaughnessy hosted the CPKC Women's Open in 2023. Shaughnessy became the only Canadian golf club to host both the Women’s and Men’s National Open Championships in the last twenty years, and one of six clubs in history to host all of the Professional Men’s and Women’s Canadian Opens and the Men’s and Women’s Canadian Amateur.
The 156-player field included 9 of the top 10 and 22 of the top 25 in the Race to the CME Standings. Notables include Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, Celine Boutier, Rose Zhang, Jin Young Ko, Nelly Korda, and Shaughnessy's very own, Victoria Liu.
A thrilling finish produced a fantastic champion in Megan Khang and a much-anticipated final score of 9-under par on the par 72 layout. Past Champion Jin Young Ko was placed in runner-up position after a one hole playoff with Khang on the 18th.
At the LPGA Awards Ceremony held in Naples, Florida, in 2023, the 2023 CPKC Women's Open was awarded the LPGA's Tournament of the Year, Best Sponsor Activation and Best Volunteer Appreciation Program awards – besting over 35 other events during the 2023 season.
